Micronesia Challenge in Guam

MCT's Deputy Director for Capacity-Building and Livelihoods, Mr. Winfred Mudong, visited the Sea Grant offices at the University of Guam where he met with the Micronesia Challenge Coordinator for Guam, Ms. Clemetine Turgeon and the two current Micronesia Challenge Young Champions (MCYC) for Guam.

This MCYC internship program is for college students and recent college graduates basing them in the islands of Micronesia to be mentored by conservation and government organizations. The internship program supports the next generation of conservation leaders to understand and support the regional efforts toward the goals and outcomes of the Micronesia Challenge. In general, the interns design outreach materials and participate in outreach events, and offer presentations.

In Guam this year, Ms Ale’a Duenas and Mr. Jeaulian Perez are both working on the social media strategy of the MC Guam, creating outreach and games on local conservation issues.

MCT is very proud of the MCYC interns and congratulates them and the University of Guam Sea Grant for their efforts to mentor these young champions!
